Safety locks on VENDLET HC-2
The safety locks lock the bars in elevated position in order to prevent the patient from pushing/kicking down the bars.
Before leaving the patient in bed, the caregiver must therefore always insert the safety locks in all 4 fittings.
Before lowering the bars, the caregiver must remove the safety locks. It is not necessary to remove the safety locks in order to use VENDLET to reposition the patient.
If the patient always lies calmly in bed, the use of safety locks in the fittings may seem unnecessary. In such cases the nursing staff may choose at their own risk not to use the side rails. However, the risk must be re-evaluated regularly as the patient’s condition may change rapidly.
